SuperCook: Find Recipes with Ingredients You Already Have

SuperCook

Want to find a recipe with ingredients you already have at home? With SuperCook, you can do just that. With each item you add to your “kitchen,” SuperCook spits out all possible recipes you can make. It eliminates a lot of time sorting through recipes only to discover there are ingredients you don’t have.

I tested it out and added milk, brown sugar, butter and milk to my kitchen. SuperCook instantly gave me 105 possible things I could make with those ingredients, including scottish shortbread cookies and caramel frosting. This seems like a very useful tool, especially for people who get sick of having to go to the grocery store to fetch ingredients all the time (like myself.)

Supercook actually learns with every new recipe it finds. It automatically learns things like which ingredients pair well, and which do not. Using these learned statistics, Supercook can automatically figure out which ingredient substitutions are possible in a recipe, thereby widening the scope of recipes available to the user at home.

SuperCook was founded by Assaf Rosenblatt, the founder of Brainboost, a natural language search engine bought by Answers.com in December 2005.
